As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
In the past I have written about the Second Wind Exercise Equipment business before, but I am so intrigued by the model of taking used exercise equipment for sale, purchasing it, and then renting back out to consumers that I felt I needed to discuss it again. In my opinion, this is the type of story that really illustrates what is possible in America when you have a vision and determine that you are going to go after it.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
If you haven’t read the first post you can find it here – Second Wind Exercise Equipment. Basically, you have a guy that saw an opportunity. He realized that lots of people would spend thousands of dollars each year buying exercise equipment they intended to use to get back into shape, always with the best intentions. However, for most people, there resolve ends up waning as time goes on. Maybe they get in a couple of really good workouts on the used exercise equipment they purchased, but then it becomes a clothes rack. The owner of Second Wind exercise equipment realized that most of this equipment was new and had very limited time on it. So, he sells his Corvette, and uses the money from the sale to buy as many pieces of used exercise equipment for sale that he could find. Once he acquired the used exercise equipment, he took the pieces, cleaned them up, and rented them out.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
This is just sheer brilliance! Can you imagine not having to throw $1000 out the window for that treadmill you just know you are going to run on every morning…only to find out it’s not what you want to do. What if you could simply rent a gently used treadmill instead, pay maybe$40 or $50 to rent it on a monthly basis, and only have to throw away $100 when you get tired of the workout. The company has a huge inventory of workout equipment now, and they have a great deal of folks that are willing to pay them on a monthly basis. I think I need to see if they service my area.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

The article today is going to be again a little different in that instead of focusing primarily on a specific “As Seen on TV” item, I am going to be focusing in on a company that you may have seen profiled or discussed on TV. The success of the Second (2nd) Wind exercise equipment company is due in large part to the unique model the owner (Dick Enrico) chose to set up. It is the unusual nature of this business model that has led to his being profiled and featured numerous times since the company’s creation in 1992.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
So what is it that makes this fitness company so exceptional? Is it the fact that they sell new exercise equipment, or even that they have used exercise equipment for sale? While both of these facts are true, what makes this company’s business model unique is that they rent exercise equipment. This novel approach to the fitness equipment business gave Dick some hurdles to overcome early on because, according to the company’s site, none of the exercise equipment vendors would sell their equipment to him.

It appears that he started his business out by selling his Corvette, and then using that money to purchase a bunch of used exercise equipment that he could in turn rent out. Dick’s problem was that he was thinking outside of the box. He had vision. The one thing I have found to be true, is that most people have NO vision, and as a result despise those that do. The exercise equipment vendors could not see what it was that Dick was attempting to accomplish by renting this equipment out, and merely dismissed him as a flake.

Fast forward to 2009. Dick’s business model has been a huge success, and the exercise equipment vendors are lining up to supply him with their products.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
I have never used the services of Second (2nd) Wind Exercise Equipment because I didn’t know they existed. Personally, I think this concept is brilliant. How many times have you been on fire and ready to jump into a workout routine…and then three days later you lose your drive? How many times have you spent hundreds of dollars for the latest get healthy gadget, only to stop using it a week later?

This service solves that problem. You rent the equipment, and give it back when you are done. Had I known about this sooner, it would have saved me a fortune.

If you have used the Second Wind exercise equipment service in the past, please consider leaving a comment.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!
