As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
Most of the time on this site I spend my time reviewing various home gym machines that incorporate fairly traditional exercise activities. Today’s article focuses on an exercise apparatus that does, in fact use traditional exercise movements, but is a slightly unorthodox manner. The home gym equipment under scrutiny today is the Urban Rebounder.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:

Urban Rebounder

The equipment is dubbed the Rebounder because it makes use of a small trampoline bed to provide the bulk of the workout for users. The aim of the equipment is to provide users with a variable type of aerobic workout based on their own, personal fitness level. This is appealing for several reasons. The one that immediately comes to my mind is that fact that you can control the intensity of the workout, and the impact that it has on your body. The gentle nature of the trampoline bed allows you to perform many repetitions of various motions and exercises while minimizing the impact to your joints and organs. On the opposite end of the spectrum, this type of home exercise fitness equipment allows you to increase the intensity and frequencies of your workouts without having to purchase additional equipment…a big plus. During my many years of training competitive gymnasts we used these types of mini-tramps to condition and train our gymnasts very effectively.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
If you can’t tell, I like these types of home gym machines…simply because of the broad applications and usability they have for a broad range of people. Additionally, this type of equipment will grow with you as your fitness level increases, and it doesn’t have to coast you an extra penny whe you are ready to kick it up to the next level. Think about it, with most of the other types of weight training equipment, or home gym, you need to purchase additional weights or accessories to move up to the next level of workout complexity. The Urban Rebounder has it all, right from the start. Additionally, having used this type of equipment before for gymnastics conditioning, I agree with them that this is a pretty fun way to get into shape…and very effective.

If you decide to check out this non-traditional workout equipment, come back and tell us what you think about it. Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview: Most of the time on this blog, I focus on equipment that is an actual home gym fitness machine. For today’s article I decided to change things up a little and review a piece of equipment that is actually a videogame. I am a big fan of technology, and I think that uses like fitness are an exceptional way to get your geek time in a healthy way. After you read the product review if you think you are interested in the software you can find it over at Jillian’s site. They have put together an interface for ordering, and they provide some additional demos of the software and how they can be used.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:

Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2010

The name of the product is Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010; it comes from both the Wii and the Nintendo DS. The basic premise of these exercise fitness games is that you, the user, are dropped onto an island with Jillian to undergo fitness training with her. The user interface differs on whether you are using software on the Wii or on the DS. By using the different accessories that come with the Wii software contractor motions into movements and provides an on screen reference image to give you guidance as you perform the exercises. Additionally, the product allows you to build out a routine for up to six months and then track your progress against your routine. One of the added benefits of the software is that you get the in your face motivation style that Jillian is known for.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review: I like anything that gets people up and gives them moving. Personally I think that Americans spend too much time sedentary. This application encourages users to use the videogame machines they would typically use for mind-numbing activities to actually take advantage of the user-interface and begin to condition their bodies. While Jillian’s motivational techniques may seem over-the-top at times it gets you up and encouraged…then I guess it works. I also think this is an excellent use of videogame machines, and it could possibly be the next wave in personal fitness training. Additionally, the form factor of the software (which is incredibly small) meets one of my criteria goals for home exercise fitness equipment… that it is small, portable, and easy to store.

If you have a Wii sitting around the house and swore to yourself, or purchasing it because of the exercise programs that are available on a highly encourage you to spend a couple of dollars and give this software a shot you may find that you like it. If you decide that it is not for you, you can always sell it on eBay and buy another first person shooter game. Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
Another day…another equipment review. The piece of equipment, I decided to look at today is the Weider Crossbow home gym machine. This is one of those home gym machines that I’m sure you see advertised on TV as it is fairly popular. This machine provides a variation on the bow flex system which uses resistance to work your muscles as opposed to a free-weight Type system.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:

Weider Crossbow

This piece of home gym fitness equipment, boasts a wide range of exercises available to its users. Based on its design is supposed to have a wide degree of versatility, providing consumers with the ability to work all of their major muscle groups. This is a huge bonus for a home gym machine, because it allows you to work all of the needed areas with a single piece of equipment. This is a huge benefit because of the time saving it provides you with, and because of the economy of scale you realize by only having to buy one piece of home exercise fitness equipment to meet your workout needs.

As part of my research on this piece of equipment I went out on the Internet and looked at a couple of exercise equipment review websites. Here is what one of them had to say:

The Weider crossbow is an exercise machine uniquely designed to target all the body parts in the one sitting. This device offers a major time and space saving advantage by incorporating upper body and lower body workout implements into a single apparatus.

Working out on the Weider cross bar ensures full range of motion, a key element in building a healthy body. The Compound Resistance System (CRS) of the crossbar uses a series of pulleys, swivels, cables, and cams to provide a mechanically induced maximum resistance of 440 pounds suitable for even professional athletes and bodybuilders. The weights on the pulley can be easily adjusted. The resin padded bench offer comfort during the workout. The rowing facility combines a muscle building workout with aerobics training.

The Crossbow requires an investment of just 20 minutes for a full body workout, the metabolic effects of which can last for the entire day. Some of the exercises possible through the Weider crossbow include the Shoulder press, Triceps kickback, Hammer curl, Chest press, Chest fly, Incline fly, Straight arm pullover, Lat pull down, Bent over row, Hip extension, Abs crunch, Leg press, Squat, and Calf raises.
-	exercise-equipment-review.com”

As you can see they seem to think pretty highly of this piece of exercise equipment. I also did some further investigation on other equipment review sites and found that most users seem to enjoy the equipment.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
This is one of those pieces of equipment that is so versatile that it has a broad application for many different consumers. It appeals to me for a couple of different reasons, the primary one being that with this single piece of equipment I could work out all of my major and minor muscle groups in a fairly short amount of time. Additionally, because of the varied nature of the types of exercises the equipment provides this home gym machine would provide me with a great deal of variety. Since it is very easy for me to get bored with workout routines this diversity is what I need.

As this is one piece of equipment that I would like to add to my personal exercise inventory I would be interested to hear about your experiences with it. Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
Many times exercise routines become just that…boring routines. It is very easy to become bored with your standard, run of the mill, exercise regimens when you use the same old weight training, elliptical, and treadmill equipment. It is for this reason that I am a strong believer in having several home gym machines to utilize in your daily workout routines. The gazelle is one of those pieces of equipment that has the ability to change your exercise up and provide you with variety in your daily routines.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:

The Gazelle

Claims of the equipment, which areas of the body it is designed to work on, customer testimonials
The Gazelle is different than your standard home exercise fitness equipment because it provides several different type of workout simultaneously. This single piece of equipment provides an excellent aerobic workout that is similar to that of skiing, running, and aerobic dancing…all without increasing the stress on your joints. Here is a little snippet of information from the Gazelle-products.com website about their machine:

“The Gazelle Elliptical Trainer provides aerobic, stretching and strength training exercises all in a fun, calorie-burning, low-impact total body workout. It’s one of the hottest-selling exercise machines, and is now available at an everyday low price. Includes heart-rate monitor and other great features.Made by Fitness Quest (well known for popular fitness machines like the Total Gym 1500), the Gazelle Freestyle with Thumbpulse has been one of the hottest selling fitness products in the country. It gives you all the benefits of stretching, walking, running, cross-country skiing, aerobic dancing and resistance training without jarring impacts or damaging movements to your body. This is extremely important when starting a new exercise program; even the most minor injuries or sprains can act as a roadblock on the road to a healthy body. The smooth movements of the Gazelle protect against such injury, making this machine perfect for beginners and fitness buffs alike.

Fitness Quest has been making some of the most popular exercise and fitness equipment found in American households today. From the Gazelle Elliptical Trainer to the successful Total Gym, Fitness Quest is dedicated to making innovative, high-quality and affordable fitness equipment for your home.”
They provide a decent overview of the equipment and its capabilities. You would expect them to present it in a favorable light…it is their product. User reviews of the product are mixed. A common theme across the sites that I visited was that the unit did not provide enough resistance for more experienced workout enthusiasts. Another recurring issue was that the unit is apparently not easy to fold up, move, and store. However, there were many favorable user reviews from folks that thought this thing was the best thing to happen since sliced bread.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
One of my big likes when it comes to home gym machines is their easy of portability/storage. Based on the user reviews for this product, that may be a challenge for this particular piece of home exercise fitness equipment. The prices that I saw start around $400 dollars for this gym machine. You may be able to find cheaper if you dig around the Internet a little bit. If you can handle the cost, and are not a workout animal, you may want to give this piece of equipment a shot, you may like it.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
Ok, time for another review of a small home gym machine. This time, we will be reviewing the Air Climber. You may have seen this product because it is one of those as seen on TV items that can show up on infomercials late at night. Basically this equipment’s claim to fame is that it is small, compact and should provide the user with a decent workout.

The Air Climber

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
The Air Climber is in fact fairly small, which again is good for those of you who do not have a lot of space for home gym fitness equipment. It basically makes use of two air powered pedals that one steps on… similar to a climbing machine that you would find a in a gym. Additionally this piece of equipment comes with a workout DVD, wherein the instructors put you through your paces and get your heart racing. The equipment starts at about $120 depending on where you purchase it from. The information I found on the Internet says, that it can support a full-size adult, but some users report having problems with it supporting more than 140 pounds. Additionally, there have been some complaints about problems with the air ballasts that provide support for the pedals staying inflated during workouts. Again these are issues raised by some consumers but are probably not indicative of all users.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
If you’ve spent any time reading this site, you know that I’m a big fan of small home exercise fitness equipment. I think it is important to be able to have your own home gym machines close by so that you can maximize your time and get your workouts in where your schedule allows. I am not so sure about the effectiveness of this piece of equipment though. I have never used it, but I fail to see why a simple aerobic exercise regimen or even the use of a simple step aerobic apparatus would not suffice. Again, I haven’t used this equipment, but I think that a workout derived from using this equipment would be the same as doing aerobics in your living room. Just my two cents.

If you are familiar with this piece of equipment or have used it in the past, please consider telling me about your experience with it and whether you feel it was a good investment of money and time. Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
If you’ve ever had trouble tightening the muscles on the inside and outside of your legs, I have found the piece of exercise equipment that you need… the Fitness Quest Leg Magic Ultra. This very small piece of equipment will make an excellent addition to your home gym fitness equipment and will provide you with an incredible lower body workout. I have seen advertisements for this piece of equipment all over the Internet, but I didn’t realize how beneficial this equipment could be until the gymnastics center where my daughter works out purchased one. Whoever created this piece of equipment has come up with a winner… in my humble opinion.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:

The Leg Magic Ultra

This piece of equipment is very simple in design; it is constructed of two bowed metal tracks and a single pole that stands up in front of the user. There are 2 foot-pads that rest on top of the metal tracks and glide out to the left and the right and then back into center. The motion is very simple for the user in that it is a simple pushing of your feet out and bringing them back to center motion. However, the intensity of the workout is extreme. Most individuals do not work the muscles on the inner thigh or the outer thigh for that matter, and it is these two muscle groups that this piece of equipment focuses on. Not only does this equipment strengthen one’s legs, but it also serves to tighten their core. These types of great, very simple, as seen on TV items, make it very easy for consumers to create their own home gym.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
I looked at what individuals who had bought this piece of home gym fitness equipment had to say and almost all of the people who left comments on the site I visited gave this piece of equipment five out of five stars. Another reason I think this piece of equipment is so popular, aside from its simplicity, is that it is only approximately $80 depending on where you purchase it. That is incredibly reasonable for a home gym machine. One of the other characteristics that I like about this particular piece of exercise equipment is that it is very small. The one at the gymnastics center sits on a wall between two sets of uneven bars. Its size makes it perfect for those of you that may have space limitations for your home gym.

If you decide to purchase the Fitness Quest Leg Magic Ultra please consider coming back, and providing us with your feedback. Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
One of the hot workout items that I am seeing pushed all over TV and in stores is the Red XL exercise machine. If you have seen the As Seen on TV infomercials about this product, you are sure to have seen the glowing reviews and testimonies of users that have been completely satisfied with this product. This seems to be one the recent sweethearts of the As Seen on TV exercise equipment crowd, so I decided it needed some looking into. My readers deserve an honest review, and feedback on what other users felt. So, here it goes.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
So, as usual I went out on the net to try and track down the equipment site to see what claims they made about the product and review their sales pitch. The product is actually very straight forward. It is basically a chair with handles that swivels. While it is swiveling, you can increase the amount of tension you are using to, in effect, increase the intensity of the workout. I had a hard time finding the site, which tells me they have poor SEO…but that is another story. When I did finally dig up the site, the front page very nicely shows that they offer three models of the Red: XL, Deluxe Exerciser (DX), and Professional Health Club Max. The differences in the platform are what you would expect; the XL is the basic Yugo model. It provides the minimum functionality of this particular TV exercise equipment and no more. The next two models step up the functionality and features associated with the product, both cost considerably more than the base model – as one would expect.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
In addition to digging up the company web site, I also did my customary research of user comments and reviews, and let me tell you they were not good. The bad reviews from users largely outweighed the positive ones. One of the huge challenges the consumer is always faced with is finding decent products out there in the land of exercise TV. This appears to be one of those cases. Most users purchased the basic model expecting it to work fine. Most of the reviews I read complained about that fact that the swivel mechanism was poorly made and broke frequently. Additionally, these users were unhappy with the equality of the workout video that came with the equipment. My guess is that most of these folks bought the low end entry model. While a consumer should be able to expect that the equipment will last past the first use, their experiences may have been better had they purchased one of the more expensive models.

I think I would use caution when buying this product, and if you decided it is something you would like to have I would definitely go for one of the upgraded models. If you have purchased or do purchase one of these pieces of exercise equipment, please comeback and tell us what you think.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
The Firm is actually a company that produces a multitude of exercise equipment products for the do it yourself, at home workout crowd. I have previously reviewed some of the other As Seen on TV exercise equipment they sell on this site. This company has quite a following, and the Internet is littered with their many workout DVDs and equipment. The drive of this organization is to empower people to take their fitness into their own hands, and to that end they provide workout videos that will help you target any muscle group on your body.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
The Wave is a very straightforward, simple piece of equipment. It uses its unique shape to maximize the workout that its users get. This piece of TV exercise equipment is curved on one side, and flat on the other. This provides for a stable surface (flat side down) if you are working through the step aerobics or band training. Then, for stabilization training, and core strengthening, you can turn it over and put the curved side against the ground. This allows you to work exercises that focus on balance and strengthen several muscle groups at the same time.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
I went out on line to read what different users had to say about this product. As usual, there is a mixed bag of opinions on the equipment, which does not come as a surprise. There are reviews written by folks that are very adept at this type of exercise, and they love the Wave exercise equipment and the DVDs. There are also those that are new to the fitness game that purchased the series believing that it was suited to the needs of a novice. This group of consumers was not happy with the product and felt that it moved to quickly for a novice. Given the mixed reviews, if you were considering the purchase of this type of TV exercise equipment, I think I would look out on the Internet and see if I could find it used or at a discount. This way, if you try it and decide that it is not right for you, you will only be out a couple of bucks, and should be able to resell it for what you paid for it.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
Today we are going to discuss a workout system as opposed to a piece of equipment. While The FIRM site does offer multiple exercise equipment products at their site, today we are going to talk primarily about the program itself, and The FIRM DVD they use to share their workout system with the rest of the world.

The official FIRM site provides a glimpse into the history of the company. It seems the FIRM workout was birthed in a studio in South Carolina. The initial system, much like the one being marketed today, focused on using cardio and weight training to help provide a balanced workout that would provide participants with the right amount of activity and resistance to help them achieve maximum results from the program. They dubbed their cardio/body sculpting fitness hybrid “Synergy Training”. Whatever they have chosen to call it, lots of people like and are huge fans of the system.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
As with any other type of workout, you are going to have people who love it, and people who hate it. This product is no different. After having read multiple reviews, it appears that those people who were really happy with the system (4 or 5 stars) were folks that were already in pretty good shape, familiar with STEP aerobics, and just looking for another program to diversify their workout regimen. Conversely, those folks who were just starting out and looking for a way to get their feet wet in the fitness world were overwhelmed by the program. They complained that it moved too fast, and did not provide a good explanation of the moves or techniques.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Turin’s Review:
This is what Turin thinks, any time you are purchasing an exercise program or equipment that you have seen on exercise TV, you need to be aware of the fact that it will probably not be as easy for you as it is for the professional athletes on TV. As seen on TV exercise equipment and workouts can be a great way to kick up your workout a notch or two, but you have to remember to have realistic expectations. The FIRM DVD and the FIRM workout is just another product that may work for you. You won’t know till you try. However, if you are not a hardcore workout fanatic, you may want to see if you can pick the FIRM DVD up off of eBay or Amazon on the cheap. That way if you can’t keep up…at least you won’t be out a hundred dollars

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Overview:
In the past I have written about the Second Wind Exercise Equipment business before, but I am so intrigued by the model of taking used exercise equipment for sale, purchasing it, and then renting back out to consumers that I felt I needed to discuss it again. In my opinion, this is the type of story that really illustrates what is possible in America when you have a vision and determine that you are going to go after it.

As Seen on TV Exercise Equipment – Product overview:
If you haven’t read the first post you can find it here – Second Wind Exercise Equipment. Basically, you have a guy that saw an opportunity. He realized that lots of people would spend thousands of dollars each year buying exercise equipment they intended to use to get back into shape, always with the best intentions. However, for most people, there resolve ends up waning as time goes on. Maybe they get in a couple of really good workouts on the used exercise equipment they purchased, but then it becomes a clothes rack. The owner of Second Wind exercise equipment realized that most of this equipment was new and had very limited time on it. So, he sells his Corvette, and uses the money from the sale to buy as many pieces of used exercise equipment for sale that he could find. Once he acquired the used exercise equipment, he took the pieces, cleaned them up, and rented them out.

This is just sheer brilliance! Can you imagine not having to throw $1000 out the window for that treadmill you just know you are going to run on every morning…only to find out it’s not what you want to do. What if you could simply rent a gently used treadmill instead, pay maybe$40 or $50 to rent it on a monthly basis, and only have to throw away $100 when you get tired of the workout. The company has a huge inventory of workout equipment now, and they have a great deal of folks that are willing to pay them on a monthly basis. I think I need to see if they service my area.

Cheers and good luck on your exercise goals!
